Driving Instructions - From PARIS

1. Take the A10 autoroute south to ORLEANS.
2. Follow the A71/E9 south to VIERZON.
3. Connect to the A20 south, through CHATEAUROUX, LIMOGES, and BRIVE-LA-GAILLARDE (or Brive).
4. Take Exit 54 (third one after BRIVE) from the A20, and follow the N140 direction MARTEL (about ten kilometers). In MARTEL, take the D703, direction ST. DENIS/MARTEL and VAYRAC. After passing through Vayrac, continue 3 kilometers to the town of BETAILLE, and watch for a right turn on the D20 toward CARENNAC and GRAMAT. Follow the D20 until it reaches a T-intersection with the D30, just after passing the bridge over the Dordogne River. Turn left toward SAINT CERE, GRAMAT, and LOUBRESSAC. Proceed along the D30 for about 9 kilometers.
5. After passing the signs for Loubressac, look for the AUTOIRE sign and turn right on the D38. Proceed 2.5 kilometers to the center of the village, where you’ll pass the Auberge de la Fontaine on your left, as well as the village fountain. The Crêperie is on your right.
6. Continue about 50 meters, where you’ll see parking areas on both the right and left sides of the road; you may park in either one. A small driveway slopes down to a chateau with turrets, and to the Manoir d’Autoire, the first residence on your right as you descend the path. There is a sign for the “Salle des fêtes” on the wall above our house. Open the wooden gate and enter the stone courtyard.

Driving Instructions - From TOULOUSE

1. Alternatively, if you approach Autoire from the Toulouse area, watch for signs for the A62 autoroute (direction: BORDEAUX, MONTAUBAN) when leaving either the city or the Toulouse Airport (“Aeroport de Blagnac”). VERY IMPORTANT: About 20 kilometers north of Toulouse, you will need to take the A20 autoroute (direction: PARIS). Be watching for the right hand exit and toll plaza, and do NOT continue toward Bordeaux on the A62. After paying the toll, continue following the A20 north, through the city of Montauban, following directions for the A20 autoroute, direction CAHORS and PARIS.
2. Approximately 20 kilometers after you pass the Cahors “centre” Exit, you’ll see signs for Exit 56 off the A20 autoroute, leading to GRAMAT, ST. CERE, FIGEAC, GOURDON. Take Exit 56 (at “Labastide Murat”). It should take approximately one half hour to reach Autoire from this autoroute exit.
3. After passing the toll booth, proceed through one roundabout, and at the next roundabout, follow directions for GRAMAT/ST CERE on the D807. About 15 km later, after passing through Gramat, still following the D807, you’ll reach the village of LAVERGNE. Continue about 7 more kilometers on the D807, and look for a sign on the left indicating “AUTOIRE, 3.5 km”. Turn left onto the D38.
4. At the next intersection, bear slightly to the right, still following the D38 and signs for Autoire, winding about 2 kilometers past sheer cliffs that descend into the valley. When you arrive in the village, Manoir d’Autoire is the third home on the left. Park in one of the two designated areas and walk down the driveway to our courtyard.

Train Information - From PARIS

There is at least one direct train per day from Paris AUSTERLITZ station to GRAMAT, usually departing 9:09 AM, arriving Brive at approx 2:25 PM). There are several daily trains from Paris AUSTERLITZ station via LIMOGES that are direct to BRIVE-LA-GAILLARD (or Brive), where it is easy to connect to the towns of BIARS/BRETENOUX or to GRAMAT (approximately 45 minutes further south). Always verify train times before your departure, as times vary according to season. Among current options.

Alternatively, there are several rental car agencies within walking distance of the Brive train station; Autoire is an easy 45 minute drive south of Brive on the D803, past the village of Turenne, with its sinuous streets, chateau and garden.
